Former Nigerian international, Etim Esin has blamed Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro for Nigerias shaky start to the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Recall that the Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Thursday.

The three-time African champions went behind to a team ranked 153rd in the world, with Motlomelo Mkhwanazi scoring with their first shot on target.

However, Semi Ajayis powerful header rescued a point for Nigeria in the 67th minute.

In a chat with Completesports.com, Etim questioned the Portuguese tacticians tactical and technical know-how.

When you have a result like that the questions that comes to mind is, dont you have a coach. We had a bad result and Peseiro should be blamed for it.

Imagine Lesotho scoring Nigeria first and we are struggling to equalise. Well, its just the starting of the World Cup qualifying but the way we started is not impressive at all.

Its painful that we didnt get a positive result to kickstart our campaign but I am hopeful of the best from the Super Eagles.

The Super Eagles face Zimbabwe on Sunday, November 19, at the Huye Stadium, Butare.
