2026 WCQ: Super Eagles Group Opponent Rwanda Appoint New Coach

Rwanda has appointed Torsten Spittler Frank as the new head coach of the Amavubi.

The German replaces Carlos Alos Ferer, who left the post in August.

Ferer, a Spaniard resigned on August 8, 2023 after failing to qualify Rwanda for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations following a 2-0 loss to Mozambique.

The 48-year-old took charge of Belarus national team the same day.

Frank is a certified sports scientist, trained lawyer with a masters degree is sports science as well as a holder of a UEFA PRO- Licence.

The 61-year-old has 18 years coaching experience in Germany, Canada , Malaysia, among others.

He also has 12 years experience in football development as technical director, coach and technical instructor in countries like Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Egypt, among others.

Frank will take charge of the Amavubi for the first time when they take on the Warriors of Zimbabwe in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier later this month.

They will also take on South Africas Bafana Bafana this month.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria and Squirrels of Benin Republic are the other teams in the group.
