Super Eagles forward, Henry Onyekuru says he’ll ensure to maintain an impressive form for his club side, Al-Feiha in a bid to make Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

In a chat with Arab News, Onyekuru stated that he can’t wait to experiencing next year’s tournament.

The Nigerian international said that he’ll do everything possible to convince Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro.

“I was there at the last AFCON in Cameroon, and I am really pushing to be there again,” Onyekuru told Arab News.

“In Nigerian football, there is still this negative mentality about the Saudi league – they don’t think it is as intense.

“But I think they should be able to see that now. The players who play here make it competitive. I am not giving up, and anything can happen.”

Recall that Onyekuru was called up for the Super Eagles camp in May 2017. He made his senior debut for Nigeria in a 3–0 friendly win over Togo on 1 June 2017.

After a strong 2018–19 club season with Galatasaray, Onyekuru was included in Nigeria’s final 23-man squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

He played for 12 minutes at the finals, coming on as a late substitute in their 1–2 semi-final defeat to eventual champions Algeria.

Onyekuru was invited by the national coach as part of the squad to face Ukraine in an international friendly on the 10 of September 2019.
