Bayer Leverkusen Winger Craves For Super Eagles Chance


Bayer Leverkusen winger Nathan Tella is keen to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The 24-year-old was born in England to Nigerian parents.
Tella is eligible to represent both England and Nigeria.

The versatile midfielder has however disclosed he would prefer to play for the Super Eagles.


Ive always said for the last three or four years that Nigeria is a big part of my life even though Ive been an England boy from London all my life,the player was quoted by German publication bild.

If I got the chance to play for Nigeria, I would be more than happy and accept it. Ive already told my parents and friends that I would do that.

Tella acknowledged he would need to work hard to be recognised by the selectors.

Youre not just nominated like that, You have to work for it and earn it. I want to prove myself here if I get the chance to play. I want to develop further, help the team and the club if a call comes for an international call-up, that would be a bonus, Tella added.

Tella joined Bayer Leverkusen from Southampton for a club record 20m fee.

He spent last season on loan at Premier League club Burnley.
