I had a good season with Union Saint-Gilloise and with them in the Europa League, luckily for us, we played against two German teams. Union Berlin, and Bayer Leverkusen, and I think I did pretty well for myself, Boniface told UEFA.com.

I had good options from different clubs, but for my football journey, its step by step. I didnt want to jump from the Belgian league to the Premier League, because its a big step and the expectation is high, and Leverkusen, is a great team, with the way they play football, theyre one of the biggest clubs in Germany, the 22-year-old added.

Boniface also stated that Bayer Leverkusen is the perfect club for his development.

When I was in Nigeria, my agent told me about Leverkusens interest and he told me they develop young players,
and I said to myself, I like the way they play. I spoke to the director and he explained everything to me and I thought, this is the perfect club for me, he added.

The Nigeria international has scored 10 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions for the Bundesliga giants.

He is expected to feature for Bayer Leverkusen in a UEFA Europa League clash against Qarabag on Thursday night (today).
