There was excitement among the residents of Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA over the commissioning of the state-of-the-art recreational park in the council on Friday. The recreational park was commissioned by Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat. Sanwo-Olu stated that recreational park will improve the aesthetic of the vicinity and have a direct bearing on the socio-economic development of the LCDA. The state number one citizen also urged the people of the community to put the facility into good use. Chairman of the Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA, Honourable Fuad Atanda-Lawal expressed deep gratitude to residents, community leaders, and partners for their support. “It is with immense pride and joy that I stand before you today, alongside the esteemed presence of the Lagos State Governor, as we gather to celebrate the commissioning of the Ikoyi Recreational Park,” Atanda-Lawal said. “My administration has consistently made it a priority to provide excellent facilities for our cherished residents. We firmly believe that the well-being and happiness of our community members are of paramount importance. In 2019, we embarked on a program with a simple yet powerful goal to transform unused spaces in our community into vibrant recreational areas. The Ikoyi Recreational Park, which we are inaugurating today, is the very first of many such facilities that emerged as a result of this visionary initiative. “Many of you may recall that this park area was once a dump site, an eyesore that not only marred our community’s beauty but also posed health risks to our residents. The decision was clear: it was time to transform this space into a recreational haven. Situated in the heart of our community, the Ikoyi Recreational Park now boasts an array of amenities, including an outdoor gym, a football pitch, a basketball court, and a playground for our children. ” This remarkable transformation has turned a once-neglected area into a lively and welcoming space for residents of all ages. “The establishment of this park is a testament to the unwavering commitment of my administration to providing top-notch amenities for our residents. It reflects our belief that a thriving community requires more than just infrastructure; it requires spaces where families can come together, where children can play, where friendships can be forged, and where healthy lifestyles can be nurtured. “As we gather here today to celebrate the opening of this wonderful park, let it be known that this project is not just a temporary accomplishment. It is a lasting legacy for our administration, a symbol of our dedication to the well-being and happiness of our residents. It stands as a testament to the hard work, vision, and determination of our team. “Ladies and gentlemen, my term as Chairman of the Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA will come to an end in 2025, marking the conclusion of two successful terms. This park, and the many others that will follow, will serve as enduring reminders of our commitment to our community. It is our hope that future leaders will build upon these foundations, continuing to prioritize the well-being of our residents. “In closing, I want to express my deep gratitude to all of you our residents, community leaders, and partners who have supported us in this endeavor. Together, we have transformed a vision into reality. Together, we have made our community an even better place to live, work, and thrive.Thank you, and let us celebrate this momentous achievement together.” The recreational park situated at the Ijeh, Dolphin Road has 5-A-side Astro Football Pitch, Basketball Court, Outdoor Gym and a playground for children.
