Mexico Maintain Dominance Over Ghana After 2-0 Win In Friendly Game

Ghanas Black Stars lost 2-0 to Mexico in an international friendly game in the United States in the early hours of Sunday.

Mexico broke the deadlock in the 57th minute through Hirving Lozano before Carlos Antuna made it 2-0 on 72 minutes.

Going into the game, the Black Stars had been unbeaten in their last five games (three wins, two draws).

It is Chris Hughtons first defeat since taking over as head coach of Black Stars.

The Mexicans have now won all four meetings with Ghana which are in friendly games.

The first meeting between the two teams in 2006 saw Mexico win 1-0 then in 2008 the Mexicans triumphed 2-1.

Prior to their latest clash, Mexico edged the four-time African champions 1-0 in 2017.

Hughton and his team will take on the United States in another friendly game billed for Wednesday, 18 October, 2023.

The United States have won the last two meetings between both sides.

In the six clashes the two teams have had, the Black Stars have won four while USA has two wins.

The Black Stars are in Group B with Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique for next years AFCON.
