Onazi: I Failed To Sign For Chelsea Because Of My Age

Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi has revealed that his inability to sign for Chelsea was because he has failed to attain the age of 18.

Recall that Onazi joined Lazio in 2011 following appearances at the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, in which Nigeria reached the final on home soil, losing to Switzerland.

However, in a chat with Ajansspor, the Nigerian international stated that he had trial with the Blues but because he was underage the whole process failed to materialised.

When I was young, I almost signed for Chelsea, but we were underage and couldnt play.

We had to wait until we were 18. There was a lot of process.

That is why my manager decided that we would go to Italy at that time. So he could start in Lazios second team and then, when he developed, he could start in the first team.
