UCL: Sadiq Benched As Sociedad Beat Benfica To Boost Round Of 16 Qualification Hopes

Umar Sadiq was an unused substitute for Real Sociedad who defeated Benfica 3-1, in Group D of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

The win took Sociedads tally to 10 after four games played in the group.

Sadiq has only made one appearance in the Champions League this season.

He has featured in 12 games with one assist in all competitions so far.

Goals from Mikel Merino and Mikel Oyarzabal in the 6th and 11th minutes respectively, gave Sociedad a promising start against Benfica.

Ander Barrenetxea then made it 3-0 in the 21st minute before with four minutes into the second half Benfica pulled a goal back through Rafa Silva.

In another early Champions League kickoff on Wednesday, Victor Osimhens Napoli were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Union Berlin in Group C.

It was Union Berlins first point in the group while Napoli are second on seven points.
