Enyimba head coach, Finidi George has attributed his teams exit from the African Football League to few mistakes made by side.

The Nigerian champions were eliminated from the inaugural edition of the competition following a 4-0 aggregate defeat to Moroccos Wydad Athletic Club.

Enyimba lost the first leg 1-0 at home, before succumbing to a 3-0 defeat in the reverse fixture in Casablanca on Thursday night.

Finidi reflected on his sides performance in the second leg.

I think it was not a good match for us especially in the first half, the Super Eagles assistant coach was quoted by the clubs official website.

But I think it was because of the way Wydad played, a lot of pressure and few mistakes from my players, and they got that early goal.

Despite the heavy defeat, Finidi believes the future is bright for his side.

We have a lot of young players, Finidi noted.

We are working towards something. I think in the coming years, these players will graduate and they will have that experience.

For them, its a big experience playing in a big tournament like this. Unfortunately, we didnt qualify. So, well learn from what weve done wrong and try to be better in the future.

Its a good tournament, and for the young players that are coming up, its also a good experience for them. In one or two years they will have the experience and whenever they compete like this, theyll do much better.

It would be recalled that the two-time African champions also suffered an early elimination from the CAF Champions League.

The Aba giants will now shift attention to the defence of their Nigeria Premier Football League title.
