“My rise to fame was so sudden and I wasn’t ready” – Joeboy

Popular Nigerian singer, Joseph Akinwale, popularly known as Joeboy has revealed that he wasn’t prepared for the life of a celebrity, even when he became famous.

The 26-year-old musician claimed that it was unexpected that his popular song, “Baby,” received a lot of airplay both domestically and abroad just three months after it was released.

During their conversation on the most recent edition of the Afrobeats Intelligence Podcast, Joeboy said that, when he first rose to fame, he had no idea that anybody would ever know him.

Joeboy said that his newfound celebrity forced him to leave his area in order to adjust to his new position.

The singer said:

“I wasn’t ready when ‘Baby’ blew. I had to adapt to get used to fame. It was so sudden. I dropped the song [‘Baby’] in March [2019], and by June I was already doing shows in countries I thought they don’t listen to Nigerian music. Countries like Tanzania, and Uganda. In three months!”

The mother of two, who recently revealed that she has been married for years, expressed her deepest gratitude to her husband for loving her unconditionally and making her life more beautiful.

While also professing her love for him, she averred that indeed, God makes everything beautiful in its time and delay is not denial.

She posted a video showcasing the flowers and Louis Vuitton gifts her husband presented to her, accompanied by a heartfelt note that read, ‘Happy Valentine’s Day My Forever. Love you loads – Olaide.’
