Nigerias Super Eagles maintained 40th position in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola world ranking release on Thursday, completesports.com reports.

The world football governing body released the latest ranking on their website.

In Africa, the three-time African Cup of Nations winners occupy sixth place.

The Super Eagles match day one opponent in next months 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, Lesotho, dropped to 153rd spot.

Zimbabwe, who will host the Super Eagles in match day two of the World Cup qualifiers remain at 125th.

Other teams in the Super Eagles World Cup qualifying group, South Africa, Rwanda and Benin Republic are 64th, 140th and 93rd respectively.
